Julie Milgram, a vocalist/pianist/composer/arranger has been based in New York since May of 2001. For the past fifteen years, she has led her own New-York based quintet, (the Julie Milgram Quintet) performing her original jazz music in and around the New York area, and in Canada. In 2006, Julie started the Cortelyou Composers Collective - a ten-piece jazz orchestra/collective which performs regularly at local venues in the Brooklyn area. She supplements her income by teaching music on a contractual basis in public schools, directing and accompanying three choirs at “Christ the King Church” in Queens, and performing with other groups and as a soloist in all five boroughs. She recently finished a “soon to be released” c.d. of her own music with her New York band Adam Armstrong (bass), Jack Davis (trombone/percussion, Kim Bock(Reeds) and Ernesto Simpson (drums), and Gary Fisher (piano)
